We're Emrae, a publishing collective skipping Amazon and selling books directly to readers and indie bookshops.

We can't publish everyone (as much as we'd love to) and not every indie author can afford to build out their own eCommerce website to sell directly, or has the time to manage it. So, we've decided to open up our space to other authors who want to try selling directly.

By working together, we hope to bring more eyes to alternative forms of publishing and help readers and authors connect without giving up more royalities.

How does it work?

It's kind of like consignment, except you make way more $$

  • Apply

    When you apply for Emrae Collective, our team will vet your social media, your books, and your reviews to make sure your book aligns with our brand values. If you want to own your fufillment, we'll split sales 80/20. If you want us to ship your books, it's 70/30.

  • Onboard

    Once approved, you'll receive a link to submit your books and sign up for our Emrae Collective Portal, where you'll have real-time sales data for each listing. On the 15th of every month you'll receive a direct deposit of the prior month's sales.

  • Sell

    You'll get a link kit with direct links for listings as well as your own landing page. When someone buys a physical book, we'll send you a prepaid label to ship out your books. We'll handle eBook delivery and customer service.

How will you market my book?

We have an email list that reaches over 3,000 readers who love indie books. We'll be doing weekly drops of fresh listings to our email newsletter and our social media. 

Once we have a strong enough sales pattern we'll be taking the 20% commission we make and reinvesting in paid ad spend.

Your books will appear in our book shop alongside authors like Orin Steele, CB Woods, and Kate Goodwin. Together, we'll be able to create more organic reach without drowning in seas of AI slop.

What's the catch?

There really isn't one, but we know in the publishing world, an 80/20 split with no other fees feels a little too good to be true.

We benefit by getting more our name out to more people, and the only reason we're charging 20% is to pay for the hosting fees and that fancy dashboard so you know what's up. 

The only limitation here is that we're a small team and we want to move intentionally, so we won't be able to onboard everyone instantly.

What if I want out?

Our agreement explicitly states that you only have to send an email requesting to deactivate your listings. We'll have it done ASAP. You don't have to stress about us—we're like, actually human. 

What does is mean to "align" with Emrae's brand?

We're founded by a collective of women from all different backgrounds and we associate with other authors accordingly. We have a zero tolerance policy for books that cause harm to our community, which include books that promote hate speech, racism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, ableism, or pedophilia. 

We will not list books or authors if they've used AI in any capacity, and if we do list one that is later found to be AI-generated, we will deactivate that listing immediately. 

We want to promote well-crafted books that honor the time and skill needed to produce quality writing. Books submitted should be professionally edited and designed with attention to detail to minimize risks of returns. 

In short—be a good person, cool?

What if a package goes missing?

We add shipper protection to every package. If something goes wrong, we'll report it to our insurance and pay for the replacement in the meantime. We don't want anyone to be out the cash because of a mistake we can't predict. 

Can I still sell on Amazon?

While we're still an anti-Amazon house, we 100% respect that indie authors don't have the luxury of sacrificing income. You can still list your books on both platforms unless you're in the Kindle Unlimited program, then you have to keep your eBook exclusive to Amazon. We don't want to be the reason your account gets terminated!
